I met him at a Minor League game at Dunedin Stadium at Grant Field in Dunedin, Florida in 1994, when the Sarasota Red Sox, whom he was the hitting coach for, came to play the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Rico signed a 1994 Ted Williams card #6.
