On May 10, 2014, Rakim and Slick performed at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Tickets were $25 but for $50 you could get a VIP ticket which included a meet-and-greet after the show. I opted for the more expensive ticket to guarantee myself a chance at meeting 2 of my favorite Hip Hop artists.
I think Jannus may have underestimated how many VIP tickets would be sold because the VIP area was jam-packed after the show. As people were shuffled into the green room, security made it clear that autographs were not allowed. This was disappointing but as the line was rather large, I could understand that they just wanted people in and out as quickly as possible.
Also disappointing was finding out that Slick Rick did not stick around for the meet-and-greet. Had I known this, I would've waited outside for him to leave before getting in line to meet Rakim.
After meeting Rakim and getting a picture with him, I decided to wait outside the venue to see if he would sign for me when he was leaving. About 20 minutes later I see him come out and I approached him for an autograph. He was very cool about it and signed my CD for me.

Rakim signed the cover of The 18th Letter: The Book of Life double CD.
