I met him at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2018, when the Kansas City Royals, whom he was managing, came to play the Tampa Bay Rays.
I had met his son, Ned IV, two years earlier while he was the hitting coach for the Brevard County Manatees.
