I met him at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2021, when the Los Angeles Angels, whom he was the bullpen coach for, came to play the Tampa Bay Rays.

I met him at a Minor League game at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in Clearwater, Florida in 1996, when the St. Petersburg Cardinals, whom he was managing, came to play the Clearwater Phillies.
