Joe Gatto

My dad's birthday is June 14th. He passed away on August 31, 2020. For his first birthday without him,  I came up with another TTM challenge for myself. This one I called "Dad TTM Project." On June 8, 2021, six days before his birthday, I sent birthday cards to eleven baseball players who also shared his birthday.

Here is the card that I sent to Joe Gatto.

300 days later, my card came back signed, and he was nice enough to mark "do not bend" on the front and back of the envelope. He also included an additional signed card.

Austin DeCarr

In March of 2021, I was looking for cards to mail out and I saw on the back of Austin DeCarr's card that his birthday was less than a week away (March 14th), so I decided to look him up and I found his address and sent him my card and the following letter.

Nine days later my card came back signed and he included a note back.

I met him at a Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2019.
He had made a rehab appearance earlier in the day for the GCL Orioles in nearby Sarasota, Florida. I brought the card with me thinking that he might show up to watch the parent club. I spotted him just before the game started sitting in the stands. I walked over to him with my card and pen in hand and asked, "Brian, can I get an autograph?" He looked at me and said, "good eye."
