Before I ever watched my first baseball game, The Tampa Bay Rowdies and soccer were my first loves. The player that I cheered for the most as a kid was Steve Wegerle. It was such a great experience getting to meet him after all these years.

I've seen this guy at Threshers games for years. First as an usher and then working security. One day I'm at the stadium, talking with one of the security personnel about baseball and I casually mentioned that I was a New York Mets fan. He then tells me that one of his fellow co-workers was a former Met in their Minor League system. My ears suddenly perked up and I immediately asked for that person's name. He tells me the name and I looked him up when I got to my seat. I discovered that he had several cards of himself, so I ordered one that night. Five days later I return to the stadium with the card and find him working in the tiki bar seating area. He got such a big kick at seeing his card. I shared it with several of his co-workers (with his permission) and they all got a big laugh out of it. It was a pretty cool experience.
